I’ve beat this dead horse many times, but this blog too must be prefaced with the obligatory, “I’m 30 and never been in a relationship.” But to that I will add that I’ve been job hunting for nearly 20 months with no luck.
The combination of those two make one thing clear: the person sitting on the other side of the table does not envision a future with me. I am unwanted.
You say I’m “hot,” “smart,” and “funny.”
But then you say you can’t see me again.
You say I “have a great portfolio,” “excellent experience,” and “love your personality.”
But then you say you can’t move forward with me.
You say I have the qualities you want in a man.
But then you say you would rather date another.
You say I have the qualities you want in a designer.
But then you say you would rather hire another.
Congratulations to those doing work they find meaningful.
Congratulations to those with intimate partners.
I think about this every day and will as long as loneliness remains the #1 reason for my depression. In that sense, every day is Valentine’s Day: an eternal lonely struggle toward the day I am wanted.
Happy Valentine’s Day
